SSL Pure Drive Octo Mic Pre and USB Interface

The SSL Pure Drive Octo Mic Pre and USB Interface utilises the acclaimed Super Analogue Pure Drive microphone preamp technology originally featured in Solid State Logic’s ORIGIN console. It introduces a new Drive mode and more connectivity and is available in an 8-channel 2U rackmount unit, providing a plethora of new possibilities and workflows for any aspiring producer and engineer. 

3 Drives in Each Powerful Mic Preamp 

The Pure Drive Octo’s microphone preamps can be independently switched between three distinctive Drive modes: Clean, Classic Drive and Asymmetric Drive. They also include independent +48V phantom power polarity inversion and a high pass filter. 

The Clean mode delivers the ultra-low noise floor, linear SSL preamp renowned for its ability to capture the sound source with unrivalled clarity and detail.  

The Classic Drive gives you the symmetrical mode that generates predominantly odd harmonics with the same drive sound found on the Origin Console. 

The Asymmetric Drive provides a new colouration option, making the even harmonic content dominant and providing more pronounced thickness, colouration and softening of transients. 

Advanced Connectivity 

The Pure Drive Octo’s versatile selection of analogue and digital I/O provides powerful and flexible microphone preamps whether you're tracking a band in a studio or adding warmth to stems during production with an integrated USB sound card perfect for project studios and on-location sessions. 

The Pure Drive Octo’s delivers eight rear-mounted combo XLR inputs, four front-panel Hi-Z/DI instrument inputs with automatic input detection and three D-sub connectors for line-level inputs and insert sends and returns. The insert returns and ADC inputs operate up full +24 dBu line-level which interfaces with other professional equipment. 

Furthermore, the Octo’s varied digital connectivity features an intergrated USB soundcard delivering eight audio channels into your DAW up to 32/Bit/192 kHz. Four AES/EBU output pairs and ADAT out, providing eight channels at 24-bit/48 kHz or up to four channels at 24-bit/192 kHz via SMUX. The AES and ADAT outputs can be individually repurposed and fed from the onboard USB soundcard as outputs from your DAW. There is also an auto-ranging world clock input and output for robust digital clocking.
