MOTU 828 USB Audio Interface

The all-new MOTU 828 USB Audio Interface is a 1U 28x32 interface that provides excellent analog quality for professional musicians, sound engineers and producers. It is linked via a high-speed 5 Gbps USB3 connection, and offers an impressive 60 channels of I/O, complete with a 24-channel mixer that boasts built-in effects like reverb and EQ.

High Performance

The MOTU 828 incorporates the well-renowned ESS Sabre32 DAC technology which delivers 125 dB of dynamic range and exceptionally low harmonic distortion. This Analog performance is driven by decades of engineering know-how in audio interface technology.

The 828 also features a high-performance driver which provides ultra-low latency performance for both Mac and PC completing an amazing round trip latency (RTL) of ~2 ms over USB (2 or 3) at 96 kHz with a 32-sample host buffer.

Endless Connectivity

You can connect 60 simultaneous audio channels like microphones, guitars, synths, keyboards, drum machines, outboard processors, MIDI gear, optical expanders and even a foot pedal. All 28 inputs and 32 output are available to you simultaneously.

The MOTU 828 delivers universal connectivity for Mac, PC and iOS with 5 Gbps. Class compliant firmware means you can plug-in and play with Mac hosts with no driver necessary. The industry standard drivers work with any audio apps, and you can even connect to your iPad via USB-C or a lighting adapter.

Also, channel 1-2 inserts mean that each mic input offers a dedicated analog send/return loop which allows for both mono and stereo mic channel outboard processing through fully balanced connections. And if nothing is plugged into a mic input, the return can act as an extra line input with the same signal characteristics as the other lines.

Capture Your Sound

Capture your recordings material in its truest form with -113 dB THD+N, 115 dB dynamic range and -129 dBu EIN performance. Each mic channel has individual preamp gain, pad, 48V phantom power and remote control from your computer or iOS device. And each combo jack alternately provides a 1/4-inch high-impedance TS guitar input for DI tracking and re-amping.

Additionally, you can DI your guitar to the front-panel input and record both the dry signal and a mic’d up amp simultaneously. You can then re-amp the dry signal later with different amps and cabs, or amp modeling plug-ins to experiment with different tones.

More Control

The MOTU 828 allows you to control a 5.1 and 7.1 surround speaker system with a single fader and gives you the flexibility to choose any analog outputs you want to control. Take charge of your recording sessions with a front panel talkback switch. You can also connect two sets of monitors and check your mixes instantly with A/B select buttons.

With CueMix 5 you have complete graphic control over you mix with graphic mixing, editing of parametric EQ and a touch friendly interface on iOS. You can control all setting and mixing from your USB host, iPhone or iPad and use multiple iOS devices simultaneously when running the CueMix 5 app. For extra network security set a password for your 828.
