Studiospares S945 Dynamic Microphone

The Studiospares S945 microphone is an impressive alternative to other handheld vocalist microphones. With a frequency response that is tailored specifically to the human voice, it excels at reproducing speech and vocals.

Dynamic microphones are particularly great with loud sound pressure levels, which means that this microphone could also be used for guitar cabinets or snare drums. Another trait that dynamic microphones are prone to is low sensitivity, so be sure to place this microphone close to the sound source.

The hyper-cardioid polar pattern of this microphone is useful at rejecting off-axis sounds, with an increased sensitivity at the front of the microphone. This is great for live stages, where a small amount of space and a lot of sound reinforcement can cause feedback or spill from other sound sources.

Features:

• Tailored Frequency Response, an ideal microphone for speech, vocals and other loud instruments.
• Two stage pop blast filter. Easily removed for cleaning
• Capsule soft suspended to stop handling noise
• Silent On/Off Switch
• Hyper-Cardioid Polar Pattern effectively cuts out unwanted side sounds and PA feedback
• Wide frequency range from 55Hz to 17.5kHz captures every sound
• Frequency response is substantially flat so everything captured sounds natural
• Body manufactured from diecast zinc alloy for strength and total shielding
• High maximum SPL can cope with any instrument or voice

First one arrived faulty but the replacement was fine. Clear sound, very good for the price, try one. You can always keep it as a spare if you're not overly impressed. Good enough to be taken seriously. I'm still putting it through its paces before I recommend live gigging with it. If you've got more to spend then get something else but if you're on a budget opt for one of these and see how you get on. So cheap it's ridiculous!

Used on a mic stand for Church worship group male vocal for singing guitarist. Excellent sound quality. Provided very clear and powerful sound from vocalist who has previously not picked up well on mics costing 2-3 times as much. Good feedback rejection but also surprisingly good pickup off-axis. For the price quite amazing. Don't know if its good on handling noise when hand held - only used it on a stand so far. No cons so far.
