From 14th April to 22nd June, registered Focusrite customers can download Capsule's Neon for FREE. Normally sold for $9.99 per month with access to all sounds, or $19.99 outright per sound pack.

What is Capsule?

Capsule is an intuitive and innovative synthesis engine that concentrates its intricate sound design into eight easy-to-use macro controls, with the instruments playable via the Capsule plugin.

Under the hood, Capsule includes multiple types of oscillators, such as virtual analogue, and a powerful sample playback engine.

Capsule’s sound libraries are collections of sounds including up to 64 instruments that have been meticulously crafted by sound designers. Each Capsule embodies a specific theme, enhancing the sonic palette of your tracks.

New Capsules are regularly added to the catalogue and can be downloaded directly from the plugin interface or via the dedicated Capsule Portal desktop application.

Step back into the 80s

Recreate the retro sound of the 80s with Capsule’s Neon. Taking inspiration from the timeless sound of vintage synths, Neon dials into the iconic realms of synth-wave, new wave, industrial electronica, and avant-garde pop.

Build brassy chords, undulating basslines, and liquid-like pads; then stack your synth-driven sounds with chorus, flange, and delay to flood your music with beams of fluorescent light. Get ready to illuminate your tracks with 64 presets, custom-built to be expressive, playable, and easy to use.

Here’s what Sound Collective Product Manager Jonathan Campbell had to say:

“This month we’ve teamed up with Capsule to bring you a flavour of the 80s."

"It’s a playable instrument in your DAW, taking massive inspiration from synth sounds from the 80s. It’s as easy as selecting a pre-set/instruments and using the macros to sculpt the sound. The macro knobs change per instrument, meaning you affect various parameters such as depth and modulation. It’s a lot of fun to use, steeped in nostalgia — and perfect for instantly getting that retro 80s sound on your tracks.”

This month’s exclusive Plug-in Collective community giveaway is Baby Audio’s Parallel Aggressor, for Mac and Windows. Normally sold for $49.00, Parallel Aggressor is FREE to download for Plug-in Collective members from 20th January to 17th March.

Parallel Aggressor from Baby Audio

Unlock unparalleled powers with Parallel Processing, which plays a fundamental role in getting a punchy mix sound. It works by duplicating the same track into multiple copies and processing each duplicate with different levels of intensity. Add more power by blending these duplicates together, while still preserving your track’s natural dynamics.

The plugin hosts three parallel busses internally, Dry is your original signal, Spank is a heavily compressed duplicate, and Heat is a heavily saturated duplicate of the original audio signal. Combine all three signals to squeeze every drop of sonic juice out of your track.

A Closer Look at the Engines - Spank Engine, Heat Engine and Auto Gain

Parallel Aggressor’s ‘Spank’ track is processed by an addictively punchy compression algorithm, designed to adapt to your audio signal, dial-up the Spank fader to get extra punchy transients.

Parallel Aggressor's ‘Heat’ track is processed by a warm, analogue modelled, saturation algorithm with an aggressive bite. Get a fuller signal with added harmonics with the Heat fader dialled up.

Auto Gain ensures that the combined output of the plugin’s three signals roughly matches the input/dry level. This allows you to experiment with different internal mix balances while keeping a consistent plugin output.

Here’s what Plug-in Collective Product Manager Jonathan Campbell had to say:

“This month we’ve teamed with one of the most exciting new plugin brands to emerge in recent years, Baby Audio.”

“They’ve offered up their fantastic compression and saturation plug-in: Parallel Aggressor.”

“The name of the game here is adding punch to your mix. This clearly lends itself very well to drum busses and part of the thing I’ve enjoyed the most is the ease at which you can get a much fatter sound. The control layout is super simple, a real joy to use, and the sound is fantastic. This will most definitely be a go-to weapon in my mixes.”

This month’s exclusive Plug-in Collective community giveaway is Fuse Audio Labs’ FX plug-in Bucket-500 and VPRE-2C, for Mac and Windows.

Normally sold for £39.00, Bucket-500 and VPRE-2C are FREE to download for Plug-in Collective members from 28th October to 16th December 2021 and come with a 50% discount code to redeem against any product in the Fuse Audio Labs range.

What’s on Offer

  • Bucket-500 and VPRE-2C FREE download
  • 50% discount code to redeem against any product in the Fuse Audio Labs range

Bucket-500

The Bucket-500 is a deeply musical delay that introduces a grungy, organic feel getting more and more degraded with every repetition, fading to a nice grit and dark tone. It shines with that instant, recognisable vibe that sits perfectly and pleasantly behind leading instruments and other sources. The texture and decay are quite different from most other delay plug-ins, making it a great addition to your creative arsenal.

The concept behind the Bucket-500 is to offer a simple-to-use processor that also provides enough versatility to create a wide range of vintage-style sounds. The plug-in introduces plenty of custom features that enhance its flexibility and fun factor, including a tilt filter in the feedback path, a stereo cross-feed option, and an optional delay clock LFO. Two slightly offset short delay times with the cross-feed and modulation on can add a very nice stereo spread to your signals, while the onboard host tempo sync will always play your repetitions on time.

VPRE-2C

The VPRE-2C is an all-tube and transformer-based rarity from the 1950s, which delivers the smooth and dense tone which is so typical for the great American recordings of the era. Its straightforward design results in a unique and worthwhile sonic character.

The preamp will enrich your recordings with an authentic tube vibe in the most intuitive way. Lower gain settings produce a sound that is well-defined and balanced with a fine accent on the mid-range while turning up the level-compensated control will significantly increase the perception of warmth, weight, and smoothness.

Another exclusive feature of the plug-in is its boost mode for kicking in more solid drive and colouration. The VPRE-2C is your ticket back in time, giving you that wonderful old sound, whenever you dial it in.

In addition to the Bucket-500 and VPRE-2C plug-ins, Plug-in Collective members can also grab a 50% discount code to redeem against anything in the Fuse Audio Labs store.

Plug-in Collective Product Manager Jonathan Campbell had this to say:

“This month's offer comes from a new partner of ours - Fuse Audio Labs. They’ve generously offered up two mighty plug-ins. Their bucket 500 analogue delay, and their VPRE-2C.”

“The Bucket-500 is an emulation of a classic tape delay, which has featured on many famous records over the years. It’s particularly fun to use on vocals for really exaggerated creative FX and sounds. Automating the feedback filter with the feedback amount can lead to some really fun sequences.”

“As for the VPRE-2C, you’ll be getting a wonderfully modelled vintage tube amp. Pair this with a drum bus for immediate, subtle punch and grit. In fact, it pretty much has a home on any sound, to add that extra 5-10% of character that is often hard to come by.”

“The controls on both plug-ins are laid out well, which makes navigating them a breeze. I’m very confident you’ll get a lot of use out of both offerings.”

Plug-in Collective members can download Bucket-500 and VPRE-2C for free from their Focusrite account and redeem their 50% discount against anything in the Fuse Audio Labs range from 28th October to 16th December 2021.

PUNCH

PUNCH is a musical and sophisticated transient enhancer that puts you in the driving seat. This module is part of ANIMATE, software designed to be your secret weapon in a wide range of mixing and mastering scenarios. PUNCH is a powerful tool in your arsenal and will let you take control of your mix and dial in the punch only where you want it.

A great example of PUNCH is in scenarios where you want to beef up your snare and accentuate the transients of your audio with mid/side precision. You can ensure your kick pokes through the mix in a musical way, get synths and bass to bite through, and use character and grit bus processing to quickly liven up a mix on the fly if need be.

Balancing the Channels with Tom Frampton

Balancing channels with Tom Frampton offer you a smart, fast, and fun way to improve your ability to balance a mix. In this course you’ll be looking at 12 songs, covering a range of four genres: Pop, Rock, Hip Hop and House. The starting balance is randomly set each time you load a challenge and it's up to you to adjust the faders to get a well-balanced mix.

This course will give you hands-on experience and the chance to learn how to think like a pro in no time. All of this is for free thanks to the Plug-in Collective.

Here’s what Plug-in Collective Product Manager Jonathan Campbell had to say:

“This month’s Plug-in Collective offer comes from a favourite company of ours: Mastering The Mix. This time we’re back with two great products. PUNCH is a great way to immediately beef up transients in your mix, particularly with drums, either on a bus or individual tracks. This plug-in really does what it says on the tin and adds punch, and all without distorting or adding any unwanted frequencies. It’s a simple and extremely powerful tool.”

Jonathan goes on to say:

“Ultimate Producer is a learning platform that helps you get better at mixing, whether you’re a beginner or pro. Practice makes perfect, and this channel balancing course that’s on offer is a great way to sharpen up your skills on a mixer.”

If you’re a guitarist, you’ll lose hours messing around and having fun with Bias FX LE 2.”

This month Focusrite gives Plug-in Collective members two fantastic plug-ins from Mastering The Mix. From the 12th March till the 7th May, members of the Plug-in Collective community can download for free, Mastering The Mix’s powerful IGNITE effect and an exclusive six-month trial version of the BASSROOM mastering EQ.

IGNITE is a dynamic harmonic distortion effect that will bring level- and frequency-responsive grit, texture character and stereo enhancement to any instrument or vocal source you choose. Target specific frequencies for distortion, adjust the input signal threshold level above which it’s applied, shape the two-stage response envelope, and set IGNITE to work on the left/right, mid or side signals. The IGINTE plug-in is everything you’ll need to make any sound seem louder and more present in your mixes.

BASSROOM’s incredible 3D interface and genre-specific EQ target suggestions are based on real-time analyses of your mixes and make productive manipulation of low frequencies almost effortless. The transparent processing of 5x carefully calibrated frequency bands, it allows you to achieve the perfect blend of punchy low-mids and defined lows that are vital to a natural-sounding master.
