Artist Spotlight: Manic Street Preachers

Welsh rock group, the Manic Street Preachers are back with their new album, ‘The Ultra Vivid Lament’, 29 years on since their debut release, ‘Generation Terrorists'.

The fabulous new record includes the singles ‘Orwellian’ and ‘The Secret He Had Missed’ which features, Julia Cumming of the Brooklyn-based, ‘Sunflower Bean’.

The Manics latest offering and 14th studio album debuted at the top of the UK album charts following its release, knocking Canadian artist, Drake off pole position. The Manic Street Preachers’ previous No.1 album, ‘This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours’, was released in 1998.

‘The Ultra Vivid Lament’ is the Manics first album release written on piano, opposed to their vast back-catalogue which was composed on and for guitar. This new direction and sound for the band has successfully created a truly melancholy yet euphoric listening experience. Is it one of their best records yet? That’s for you to decide.

This superb comeback and their first record since 2018; whilst solely being written during the Covid-19 was recorded at Rockfield Studios, Wales with producer, Dave Eringa (Kyle Minogue, Idlewild, Wilko Johnson & Roger Daltrey, The Who).
