Overview

The MK 4XP is a cardioid capsule that has been specifically designed for the very closest of speech applications, ideally directly in front of the speaker’s mouth. The MK 4XP’s low frequency roll off is compensated by proximity effect, meaning it has (up to the point of its high-frequency emphasis) a flat frequency response for the speaker’s voice, while demonstrating a roll off at low frequencies for all sound that originates from a greater distance. As a result of this background sounds are picked up by the MK 4XP with less significance compared to the person’s voice that is being captured.
