Focusrite RedNet A16R

Overview

The Focusrite RedNet A16R adds 16 remote-controlled analogue channels in and out to any Dante audio-over-IP network. This interface includes full power supply and network redundancy in a compact, rugged 1U enclosure. Making it more than ideal for those demanding touring conditions that come when travelling between venue. Plus, the A16R will also be more than at home other environments such as education, broadcast and studio settings. The A16R also features Focusrite’s precision 24-bit A-D and D-A conversion and superb audio performance with 119dB dynamic range at standard sample rates up to 192kHz, with pull up/down.

Rear Panel

The Focusrite RedNet A16R’s rear panel includes standard DB25 connectors for analogue patch bay or breakout cable interfacing. Also on the A16R’s rear panel, dual 8p8c/RJ45 etherCON locking Ethernet ports are provided with full network redundancy. The A16R unit can be operated in Redundant or Switched mode. In Switched mode the unit can be used with a single Ethernet connection and additional devices chained from the secondary connector. Whereas in Redundant mode the unit will automatically switch between Primary and Secondary connections without any signal loss in the unlikely event of a network failure.

Bi-Directional Network Audio Interface

The 1U RedNet A16R is a bi-directional Network Audio Interface that provides 16 analogue inputs and outputs, plus an additional two channels of AES/EBU/I/O. Additionally, the XLR input socket on the A16R may alternatively be used for DARS. Plus, word clock in and outs are provided on the BNC connectors.

Internals

On the inside of the Focusrite RedNet A16R, analogue signals are converted using precision Focusrite conversion technology to and from 24-bit digital signals. You’ll also have access to user-selectable sample rates of 44.1kHz, 48kHz, 88.2kHz, 96kHz, 176.4kHz and 192kHz that are supported for both A-D and D-A conversion. While Jet PLL technology is employed to minimize conversion jitter. Lastly, al analogue inputs and outputs offer you a frequency response of 20Hz-20kHz ±0.05dB, with a 119dB A-weighted dynamic range.

Balanced Analogue Inputs and Outputs

Electronically balanced analogue inputs and outputs are provided on 25-way female D-Sub connectors, which are wired to the AES59 standard, while the internal signals are fully balanced throughout on the A16R. The inputs and outputs can be configured remotely for either +18dBu or +24dBu alignment.

LED Front Panel

The LED front panel indicators on the Focusrite RedNet A16R display to you the status of PSU A/B and Network Primary/Secondary connections, Sync Source, Pull Up/Down, Lock status, Sample Rate AES/EBU I/O, and Input/Output Signal Levels.

Small and Rugged Footprint

The Focusrite RedNet A16R is housed inside a sturdy, industrial 1U housing that has been designed for fixed installation in engineered audio and communication systems.

Power

The Focusrite RedNet A16R features dual independent power supplies that will automatically switch between supplies in case of a failure, and retaining clips are provided for the power cables.
