The hybrid design of the Tube MP allows it to add warmth and fatness to a signal while maintaining exceptionally low-noise and high quality. While its primary application is to be used with a microphone, the Tube MP is an exceptional direct box - impedance matching, amplifying and improving the sound of any instrument plugged into it. The usage of external mic/line preamps has become increasingly popular over the past several years. The Tube MP offers superior performance and sound quality to the `on-board` preamps found in today`s low-cost mixers and multi-trackers. Professional quality sound combined with professional features.

I wanted to create warmth so stuck with analogue desks but the unforgiving didital technonology gives unwanted noise. This is an excellent, easy to use preamp that you can add in-line with a couple of cables and provides a beautiful sound to any mic.

I was a bit sceptic about this hybrid product (electronics and a valve combined). I restore analogue audio tapes mainly cassette but some reel to reel) and as part of the restoration process I was looking for something warm to remove the digital harshness, so I bought one Art tube really as a test. As soon as it was hooked up I tried it with some audio (a radio broadcast from 1982 on the FM waveband, I use this piece of audio as my test piece so I know it inside out. I was amazed in the improved sound quality so I bought another one (for stereo production). A waste you might say because I could have bought a stereo product, er yes but my studio is also used for voice and telephone interview recording. Telephones have a very low output and with a normal mixing desk the gain and eq would have to be turned up a lot, not with the Art Tube MP the gain on it is so high (70 dB) that it delivers a great signal to the desk and no cranking up the gain and eq. I have an AT 4033a mic and it works great, there's 48v phantom present,+20 dB gain and phase reverse on the Art Tube MP. Noise levels are so low I can't hear any with my ears, although I'm sure it's there. I do wonder whether the warmth provided by the valve (12AX7a) could be bettered with a different valve? Maybe someone could comment about that. Overall I'm very happy with the Art tube MP

Using to go directly into mixing desk with guitar. Has warmed the sound up so gas done the job. But will be handy for other uses in future.
