BEHRINGER SUPER-X PRO CX3400 CROSSOVER The CX3400 is a new, high-precision active frequency crossover enabling 2 or 3-way stereo or even 4-way mono operation. If the drivers in a multi-way system aren`t set up in a vertical line, you often get phase errors and cancellations. CX3400 to the rescue! It enables you to delay the low-frequency bands up to 2 msec., which correlates to moving the speaker backwards up to app. 70 cm. Adjustable crossover frequencies and an additional POLARITY button per output allow perfect runtime and phase problem compensation for various types of speakers and horns. Our special FREQUENCY knobs with 41 detents allow precise setting of both channels` crossover frequencies. Frequency adjustment ranges from 44 to 930 Hz and from 440 Hz to 9.3 kHz (x 10) assure perfect adaptation to any speaker system. Each band features an integrated Interactive Gain Control limiter, which effectively protects your system and speakers against overloading. The threshold for all six limiters is variable between -6 and +18 dB, whereas each limiter operates individually on its particular frequency band. Precise LED displays monitor the status of the limiters and inform you immediately when a limiter becomes active. The lowest frequency band can be merged to a mono signal and separated from the mix, leaving the rest in stereo. Combining the bass cabinets to form a single cluster enables optimal efficiency and notably increased sound pressure level. Additional features include the fact that units can be linked for unlimited frequency bands, 24 dB/octave, state-variable Linkwitz-Riley filters for precise frequency separation, Completely linear, phase-compensated amplitude response when summing signals, MUTE button, phase reverse switch and adjustable output level per band for easy system adaptation, switchable 25 Hz subsonic filter per input (12 dB/octave), switchable equalisation for constant-directivity horns.

  • Professional high-precision stereo 2/3-way or mono 4-way crossover
  • 24dB per octave Linkwitz-Riley filters
  • Flat summed amplitude response, zero phase difference
  • Individual output level controls for all bands
  • Individual limiter on each output for optimal loudspeaker protection
  • Individual output mutes for easy band adjustment and individual phase reverse switches for instant phase correction
  • Switchable 25Hz subsonic filter on each input for low-frequency driver protection
  • "Low Sum" function provides low-level mono output for subwoofer operation
  • Adjustable time delay for phase alignment between drivers
  • CD horn equalization for constant directivity horn compensation
  • Illuminated switches for secure operation in dark stage environments
  • Shielded toroidal mains transformer for minimal noise interference

It's early days with this as I only took delivery a few days ago, but I'm very impressed. As with most Behringer products, the design and concept are very similar to other products on the market, but a whole lot cheaper. This was easy to set up (although you do have to pay attention to the rear panel buttons as well as the front panel) and "does exactly what it says on the tin". Hopefully it will continue to function as impressively for many years.
