Neumann KMS105 Condenser Microphone

NEUMANN KMS105 super cardioid The Neumann KMS105 provides the stage performer with a microphone that is second to none. Stage microphones are generally designed to sound larger than life with poorly defined HF responses which add an infinite number of harmonics more accurately described as distortion. By comparison to such microphones the KMS105 may sound dull, but dull it isn t. The output is pure and unresponsive to sibilance, the bane of so many performers. The KMS105 sound can easily be anticipated by listening to a KM84 which shares the same neutrality and smoothness. The microphone is therefore not limited to vocalists and can be used with absolute confidence on practically any instrument. Although the capsule is a a hypercardioid design, the basket modifies that to a supercardioid. The result is a slightly wider sweet spot with a slightly smaller lobe to the rear. The basket incorporates a four layer acoustic filter to eliminate pop and blast effects. No foam is used as this would influence the acoustic performance. The tight supercardioid polar pattern and the colouration-free off-axis response allows a high level of gain before feedback. P48 volt phantom powering. Supplied complete with SG105 stand clamp. Silver.

Magazine Reviews
Sound On Sound, Feb 2001 ""It would be wrong to think of the KMS105 as just a high-quality stage mic, because it works admirably in the studio too."" https://www.soundonsound.com/sos/feb01/articles/neumannkms105.htm
