Sontronics Halo Guitar Amp Mic

HALO really is indispensable for any recording or gigging guitarist, as it gives amazingly accurate and realistic results, plus the recorded signal is completely clean and free of EQ, and therefore sits in the mix beautifully.

Because of its frequency response and peak presence, the HALO is also very well suited to recording other amplified string instruments (such as electric violin) and also plucked instruments such as banjo, 6- and 12-string acoustic guitar, bouzouki and others. It also sounds fantastic on harmonica!

Sontronics HALO can be placed directly in front of any guitar amp or cabinet without fear of overloading the dynamic element. Experiment with placement but we recommend about 3 to 5cm out from the grille, positioned at the edge of the speaker cone (you should be able to see it through the cloth). When recording amps in the studio, you don't need them turned up past 5… even at low gain, the amp's tone and character will be captured by HALO.

Magazine Reviews
Sound on Sound, July 2012 "Sontronics have come up with yet another distinctive microphone. This model seems best suited to hard‑edged rock guitar sounds, but can be adapted to other styles by adjusting the mic position and/or applying EQ." https://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jul12/articles/sontronics-halo.htm Music Radar, August 2011 "With a full price that's equal to the industry standard, Sontronics' biggest challenge will be getting you to put down the 57, but the Halo is a worthy competitor." http://www.musicradar.com/reviews/tech/sontronics-halo-488989 http://musicconnection.com/sontronics-halo-dynamic-microphone-review/
