The Sontronics STC-1 is an exceptional instrument mic, deftly adaptable for everything from guitars and strings to wind, brass and percussion. Its three-stage filter (0, -10, -20dB) and pad (0, 75, 150Hz) switches make it eye-wateringly versatile, and its professional studio-quality sound is impressive, particularly given the low pricetag. Arriving complete with a luxury, velvet-lined wooden box, plus a mounting clip and windshield, the STC-1 has a brushed nickel finish to ensure it looks great wherever you put it. Switchable omni capsule (search 325251) and hyper capsule (325252) are also available for added flexibility. Stereo pair also available (325260).

Music Tech Magazine "If you want to record drum overheads, acoustic guitars and piano and you find the sound of large-capsule condensers too coloured, microphones such as the STC-1 could be the answer."

I can't rate the STC-1 highly enough. My "thing" is acoustic classical recording, often including choir, orchestra, pipe organ, etc. Small diaphragm condensers are the best tool for this job and over the years I've dabbled with various mics used in various ways. I settled on using a spaced pair of omnidirectional mics and I had been using a pair of Behringer B-5. I felt I had outgrown them and looked for the next step up. I read a lot of reviews and eventually chose a pair of STC-1 with omni capsules. The difference was night and day - the performance of these microphones is insane given how affordable they are. The response is so smooth, they cope extremely well with the dynamic range of a choir and the noise characteristics are great. I recommend the STC-1 to anyone, beginner or seasoned pro.

was so impressed after borrowing one of these i had to buy one, sounds great on snare, overheads and acoustic guitar, it's now my 'go to' mic for recording these. adds a touch of warmth without colouring the sound too much. good range of options with lo pass filters/pad switches and very good build quality. records like a mic worth three or four times the price.
