Rode NT1A Recording Pack

The R DE NT1-A has become an industry standard; delivering the warmth, extended dynamic range, clarity and high SPL capability usually only featured by some of the most expensive microphones.

Now available as the ‘Complete Vocal Recording Solution’ this NT1-A package now includes everything you need to get truly professional vocal recordings - the world’s quietest studio microphone, a studio grade pop shield and shock mount, a premium 20’ cable, dust cover, an instructional DVD with recording tips, and of course R DE’s industry leading ten year warranty.

Studiospares Red 100

The Studiospares RED 100 provides a realistic answer to the problems of unwanted sound entering via the rear of the microphone. The heart of the answer lies in the construction of the shielding material. Sound isolation rooms use the principle that sound waves agitate a material (the walls) and dissipate that energy into an acoustically absorbant material similar to Rockwool. RED 100 applies that principle by surrounding much of the microphone with a wall. In the case of RED 100 the wall consists of a complex sandwich construction of five differing materials. The results are astonishing, providing better detail and a more accurate sound. To save storage space and provide more control over the captured sound the sides can be folded in and out. The RED 100 is designed to be mounted on a 5/8” thread. The position of the microphone relative to the filter can be varied back and forth.

Sound on Sound, May 2004 "The NT1A may have an entry-level price, but it's performance is anything but entry level. It has a great sound, it is extremely quiet and it comes with a good shockmount. " https://www.soundonsound.com/sos/may04/articles/rodent.htm

I have never used a recording mic before so i have nothing to compare it to, but what i can say is it excellent, crystal clear & the red 100 makes a real difference to the sound,i highly recomend this package,Only advice is to get a good quality mic stand for stability,it can become top heavy....

This pack provides brilliant sound isolation with minimal spill. Personally, I have used it in a very inappropriate bedroom environment and I have still been very impressed with the acoustic sound quality this provides. I've even tested with my monitors on, and the amount of spill that you get from them (even at medium volume) is impressively low. Of course, you would always use headphones, but this is just an example. The only negative is the weight of the RED100, it tends to cause quite a strain, even on the boom stand that I bought to go with it. As long as you're careful with setting it up, it won't move thereafter, but initially it can be a bit of a pain. Still, this is absolutely nothing worthy of putting you off buying, it's an amazing bit of kit, especially if you use it in an already treated studio (for extra vocal isolation). Just to mention, too, that the NT1A microphone is also very impressive. It has a very bright frequency response which is necessarily appropriate for vocals, and is very clean and crisp. As a lot of people have already mentioned, this whole package comes at the equivalent of a much more expensive set up. I don't see any need to buy a top quality studio mic (for the same purposes) when you already have this setup. I would recommend this to anybody.

this package is great value , it's sound is in my opinion equivalent to that of a mic costing £1000 - £2000. the refection filter does an excellent job of stopping unwantede sound.

I use the Rode NT1A for my main solo vocals and find it excellent value both in money terms and quality.
