Worked great for a portable recording in an office meeting room, cut out most of the air con and focused the vocal nicely... Large in size but very light yet well made.

Use in mobile recordings and home. Been having trouble with unwanted acoustics of the rooms but now cured! Having just retired as a sound engineering lecturer and having a studio on tap 24/7 was spoiled somewhat but love the challenges of recording in different venues and envirienments.

I liked the how it attached to the mic stand, but found that the arm that bolts onto the stand got in the way of the mic lead. I managed to remedy this with a mic thread adaptor placed to raise the hieght of the mic.

Like many home studios, mine is located in a small cuboid room. The RED50 hugely improved the sound of vocals, for which I mounted a Rode NT1 well back inside the 'arc' of the device. It also cut down background noise from the hard drive in my Akai DPS16. To get the mic far enough back, I had to mount it at an angle from the vertical, but that wasn't difficult to do.

I had borrowed a friends more expensive alternative a while back and it worked very well, but I was somewhat sceptical about buying a cheaper one. Turns out it works every bit as good, and I am more than happy with the results. Well worth saving a bit of money.

I run a small project studio for 13-19 year olds where I have a Vicoustic equivalent, but I bought this for my home studio. As an entry level product, it isn't the most robust, but that's not too say that it won't last a life time if cared for! It is exactly as described, works perfectly, was extremely well priced and I couldn't be happier.

It works well for me cutting down on ambient sound pick up. I've even used it outdoors to cut down on wind noise doing a PA! It's a little fiddly, you need the right stand to help balance, and obviously the shape and size takes up a bit of room but it does do what it's supposed to.

This is not a professional quality product, but it works in my home studio. Can be awkward to set it up in the best position with the mic. Makes a real difference to the quality of vocal recordings.

Found that when you attach an xlr plug to the mic (I use a Rode NT1A) you have to move the mic slightly off centre or angle it a bit. A slight niggle but hey.

Although this product does what it says on the box, the flimsiness lets it down even at the low price. However handled with care the RED50 will sit very comfortably behind the vocal mics in the home studio and professional recording environment alike.

This does exactly what it says on the tin. It's the cheapest on the market, obviously not the best but it is very good at what it does - cuts down room reverb and warms up the sound. I've used it for recording spoken word and loud vocals. Can't use it on a boom stand and obviously due to single density or layer of foam does not work quite as well as those costing £200 plus, but if you need some good isolation on a budget and can work round its limitations it will help make recording your vocals at home much better.
