The Studiospares RED 110 is a further development of the RED 100 and intended for instrument microphones. It is an affordable portable solution to improving the sound of the acoustic space surrounding the microphone. By allowing the sound waves to pass through several layers of differing materials the filter progressively absorbs sound energy keeping sound waves from bouncing back towards the microphone. The RED 110 consists of a similar sandwich construction technique to the RED 100 but with fixed sides. The microphone protrudes through the screen filter and is held in place by a crocodile style mic clamp. The forward and back position of the microphone can be adjusted as appropriate.

Please note that the microphone stand pictured is not included.

The opening for the instrument is only 22.5 mm with the scratch prevention rubber in place (Studiospares info does not give this dimension) - if you remove the glued in scratch protector you can almost get the SM 57 in to the hole but it is not best placed or adjustable and prone to scratching. Studiospares design team has lost potential market using a limiting diameter (given the SM 57 is one of the most popular instrument mics Studiospares Marketing don't help by not listing the dimension or flagging its limitations in the details on the website! Will now have to sell on as is useless to me unless I buy smaller instrument mics Save yourself hassle and disappointment if a 57 user. If all your instrument mics are 20 mm in diameter go ahead as build quality OK. disappointed studiospares - not up to your usual standard.
