**Supplied as a pair**.

The Seiwin powered speakers are designed for studio use. Constructed from solid 17mm medium density fibre board and with a rear facing bass port.. The cabinet is black veneered for an appealing finish. The magnetically shielded drivers were selected for quality, not price. The 6" bass driver has a mineral filled polypropylene cone with a high temperature voice coil and damped rubber surround. Such free movement allows the driver to move substantial amounts of air without distortion. The 1" soft domed tweeter is ferrofluid cooled. The crossover frequency is at 2.6 kHz. Two internal amplifiers 80 watt for the bass driver and 40 watt for the tweeter are driven from XLR and jack input sockets. The professional line level of 0.775v (0dbv) delivers full output.

On the rear panel is a volume controls together with an on/off switch and mains a input socket. There is an LED below the bass driver to indicate that the power is on. Each speaker is totally self contained.

The overall sound is superb, partly due to the quality of the drivers and partly due to the matching of the amps to the speakers and cabinet. These are not being sold by a dealer network so pricing is very very competitive, an unbeatable price for active monitors of this specification!

Used as monitor speakers for edit suite. Just fit on the control desk. Great sound quality for edit suite.

I bought these on the strength of the reviews here (and on some web forums). I have them on my desk, running from an external dac on my PC. I generally agree with the other comments here. I think they are quite neutral although many recordings will sound harsh due to the pumped up mixes. The bass extension is actually quite remarkable, with audible output well below the specified 50 Hz cutoff. Very dynamic and more output than you'll ever need in any small/medium room or office. I did have one minor quality issue - on delivery, one speaker had no output from the bass driver. Turns out it was just a loose connector inside. Easy enough to re-attach but I did need to use a torx security screwdriver to remove the driver. I also tried a pair of the smaller Seiwin monitors with the 4 inch drivers. They're quite good as well, but they don't come close to the bass extension of the bigger model. The small speakers don't have a much smaller footprint so unless you're very squeezed for space I'd recommend the bigger model.

I've not owned any accurate speakers before but have used several studios and had good quality seperates stereo etc. I've always mixed on headphones thinking that unless I spent £350+ it wouldn't be worth buying any monitors. However my trusty sennheiser cans are breaking so I thought I'd give these a go. They are SO much better than headphones. They will probably take a bit of listening/getting familiar with before you get the best results but my mixes are already better than with my old headphones and I've only had them a few days. Oh and 50Hz is plenty low enough (unless you are mixing drum and bass/dance etc) I'm a bass player with a B string. Well done Studio spares for not being greedy!!!!

HF's & mids are good, backed by a sub they work well. Build a let down, one cab perfect other blemish on woofer cone, volume switch not located straight and does not increment the same as the other cab. But once running I soon forget that and really are well worth their price.

Very good sound and build quality for the money. I'm using them to listen to music from my iPod while exercising. Lack of bass mentioned in other reviews is easily remedied by putting it through a mixer or anything that gives you EQ. Very small bass boost and the bass is about what you'd expect from a cabinet and driver this size. They don't sound bad without it but it sounds better with bass boosted slightly to my ears. I was so impressed I bought a second pair to use as they were intended, for mixing/recording. Haven't got that set up yet but they do sound revealing. The top end and high mids can be slightly harsh and lack the sibilance you'd get from a much more expensive speaker and amp but you'd need to spend 3 times more IMO. They are not as loud as I expected 120W RMS per side to be but are loud enough for the relatively high volumes I enjoy when working up a sweat.

I've supplied & Installed over 20 pairs of these speakers for background music in Gyms and they never fail to impress. Virtually All of the installations have needed no eq at all, they just sound great.

I am really impressed with the punch and clarity of these speakers. I was expecting a lot less for my budget.

I bought this on the strength of initial reviews expecting some disappointment for the price and wary of the hype. I was not disappointed in the least and would say that every review I have seen since has been pretty much on the spot. You do get crystal clear clarity. You do get bags of highs and mids and enough bass to give you a true enough picture. Again, not the best for that big low end but good enough for me. The hum even at top volume is barely audible (only when you approach speaker close up), and does not compromise a recording.Solid construction, nice graded position volume control, and pro in looks, albeit slightly on the large size if you use them for desktop monitoring and are short on space. I have had these speakers just under a year and would compare them with some of the best at more than twice the price.

Brilliant Studio Monitors, no HISS even when turned up to max and works great for FM & Internet Broadcasting on my A&H XB14! [...] Only thing I would say… get some Auralex Acoustic Pads, if your going to drive the bass a bit! Excellent product! Very happy!

Had these for a few years now in my home studio and they are still going strong. I bought them when i was on a tight budget and the sound quality from these is quality especially at this price range.

I got these at a bargain price at a trade fair and never expected anything on this level of quality. Good grief, they are a really tidy pair of monitors - well made, sound good (not been able to compare to anything high-end, but they are head and shoulders above the domestic gear I've got to hand) and manage pretty high spls. I actually put mine to use connected to a TV screen and use as a pair of domestic AV monitors for film and telly and they rock the nuts of any other home cinema system I've had. I did use them to monitor a home studio setup for a while and they were brilliant in a domestic situation, but I never really got to spend much time with them in that application, but as a pair of compact, versatile, uncoloured and workhorse boxes I can't think of anything better, when you take the price into account they are a wonder.

Very slightly audible hum from the power unit- not through the speaker though- this product is very clean in that respect. Very honest sound- but a lot of tweaking position and acoustic tiles necessary to get the lower frequencies right at closer monitoring distance. The bass was thrown to the back of the room. Very happy with these monitors!

Used as nearfield monitors for home studio work. Compared to similiarly priced and spec'd monitors of more "brand" companies, these Studio Spares monitors seem to stand up nicely. Only had a week or so, so time will tell, but so far so good!

I dont actually own a pair and I currently have the Event TR8 XL monitors. I listened to these on a college system and for a budget pair of monitors they sounded pretty good. The high and mid range sounded pretty accurate when listening to commercial releases. The low end sounded good but not the best, but as I mentioned, for a budget pair they do the job. I might even buy a pair as another referencing source or even for Djing.

Its not often you replace something with a superior product for less money than the product you replaced cost,This is definately the case with these monitors, I paid a third of what I paid for my previous monitors and imo these are better.I have a small home project studio and these being nearfields are perfect. If your looking to save money anywhere in your set up you could do worse than start with these.

I've used then for a year in a home entertainment (TV & music reproduction) system. No downsides to the speakers performance, they are excellent for the price and therein lies a problem - potential purchasers will overlook them due to extremely low cost. Bump the price up to [$]/pair and watch as rave reviews flood in!

I use this product for producing music, mainly House, Trance and everything in between. These are my first set of studio monitors that i have owned and i must say I am really impressed with the results I get from them, 1 thing I would say is that when you first turn them on the sound isn't great, but after a few hours they eventually break in and they are superb, low mids, mids and highs are crystal clear but the bass isn't as clear but good enough when making a kick drum. all in all a very good pair of actives, especially for the price only downside is you may wish to purchase a sub but not essential

Slightly hollow sound with bright tonal balance compared with much more expensive BBC designed monitors, but very clear and revealing, with nothing missing. They reproduce everything that is presented to them. Enjoyable to listen to, and no apparent distortion at high monitoring levels. An astonishing bargain at their price.

Excellent value for money, clean sound and very useful in location recording as they are compact and sufficiently revealing for the artists to evaluate their performance. But I do use more expensive monitors in post.

As recommended to me by a friend, I wasnt sure what to expect. These monitors sound great! very clear and bright on the high end especialy, the mids and lows are full and thick. At first hearing them its hard not to notice the level of high end as there is a lot of it, but it just takes a bit of getting used to. For a pair of powered monitors these are perfect as part of a home or professional studio, well worth the money!

all I can say is I have owned focal solo 6 monitors worth over a thousand pounds but this sound the same as the focals no difference at all except for the wattage.. Everyone doubting these monitors i suggest you change your mind right now and take my word for it they rock.
