Behringer Eurolive D Series Active PA Speakers

As a result of Behringer's Class-D amplifier technology and internal switch mode power supplies, the EuroliveE D Series loudspeakers provide a much better power to weight ratio than competing active speakers. So you get all the power without the back breaking weight. Furthermore the sound quality of these lightweight loudspeakers exceeds that of Behringer's extremely popular Eurolive B212A and B215A systems.

The integrated sound processor provides total system control, along with dependable protection of the LF and HF transducers, thanks to the built in active high pass filter, which virtually eliminate distortion even at extreme operating levels. The speakers can also be used as floor monitors as one side is tapered to allow for this.

There are 4 versions available -

200-Watt B208D with 8" Woofer
200-Watt B210D with a 10" Woofer
550-Watt B212D with a 12" Woofer
550-Watt B215D with a 15" Woofer

All four models feature an Ultra-Low Noise (ULN) Mic/Line input with LEVEL control and a dedicated 2-band EQ (bass/treble) for easy control.

I used to have 212s until one failed (not a long life at 3 years with occassional use but they were cheap!). I thought I'd go for a pair of 15" basses instead of 12" to extend the sound range down a bit (and keep the working 12" as a stage monitor for singers). I only use them for my "Born To Jive" jive dance evenings - not for club music. I think the mid-range has suffered but it's minimal and the better bass sound more than makes up for it. Basically they are very good sound for very little money and I'd expect to pay twice as much to get a noticeably better sound - unless you're a tech-head it's just not worth the extra money.

Bought these to use for small band, singer song-writer, and occassional disco. With care, they produce a lot of good quality sound for the money, and are some of the lightest-weight speakers I've used, especially given the super tough cases. Three qualifiers to beware of: 1) Straight out of the box they sound awful, and need serious running-in before use on stage. 2) It is very easy to overload the input stage, and I feel the multi-purpose mic / line input is a big mistake. Keep the input levels down and they sound great. 3) They sound really clean and powerful when fed with a balanced input from a good mixer. But the mid and top is very rough if fed from an unbalanced source (such as a CD player).
