Some are unnecessarily heavy because they do not reflect current acoustic technology. Others are flimsy and are more appropriately visual screens, ie. they cut the line of sight but not the sound. The Studiospares screens are manufactured by Soundcheck, a company who specialise in controlling the acoustics of public buildings, including famous churches and prestigious cinema complexes. The technology for the screens came from the development of wall mounted acoustic panels used in cinema multiplexes to enable such cinemas to achieve THX certification, an independent performance criterion for the sound, vision and acoustics of cinemas. A noise reduction coefficient of up to 0.92 at 1000Hz would be typical for these screens. The Soundcheck freestanding Acoustic Screen comprises an extruded frame which houses the internal Class 0 acoustic foam material. For extra strength and enhanced acoustic properties, the front surface is a hard glass fibre material. The composite structure means that one side is more absorbing, the other more reflective, allowing great flexibility of usage, whether in the studio, practice room, or concert hall. Size is 900mm width x 1500mm height x 42mm thick. Red.
