The smaller plug yields a small contact area compared with the standard Jack. Therefore contact reliability is crucial. Switchcraft have long been the manufacturer others seek to emulate. Like all true American products, they are of substantial construction and totally reliable. They continue their tradition of using the long frame with the long nickel silver spring tempered spring contacts which by virtue of their length are more tolerant to minor differences in plug dimensions. The bushing is nickel plated brass. The new TT96 is based on an attractive black anodised aluminium panel which features extra wide rigid vinylite labelling strips which simply slide in and click in place under a transparent moulded plastic strip. (Others accidentally slide out). The nickel plated cold rolled tie bar is integral. The TT96 is supplied complete with full normalising contacts which are fanned for ease of soldering whilst the earth terminal is offset for ease of making common ground bus connections. The switching contacts are welded, gold alloy inlaid over a palladium base. No expense is spared.
