An Interactive Knee Adaption Compressor which combines hard knee technology with current soft knee circuitry. (Hard knee compression compresses by a fixed ratio above the threshold whereas soft knee provides an increasing compression ratio as the signal increases until limiting is achieved.) This method is often felt to provide the most sonically acceptable form of compression. An expander section includes Ratio circuitry which adapts the time constants to the programme material to avoid premature gate closure. It also eliminates 'chatter' by introducing a hysteresis component into the time constants. A Clipper/Peak limiter brickwalls the signal for short transients and then reduces the overall output level. Attack and Release times can be set manually or automatically. Automatic bypass relay in the event of failure. External Key and Key listen facilities. -10dB/+4dB operation.
