    Room Absorbtion Coefficients/Tech. details

    Hi there,

    My University bought a sound isolation booth from you a few years back. It was a single thickness room dimmensions 5x4.1x2.1m, something similar to this:

    Could you give me any technical information that you have about the acoustic properties of this room, specifically the material used on the inside i.e. absorbtion coefficients across frequencies?

    Hi Joe. Alex who deals with all the Esmono rooms is away on holiday at the minute but I'll try my best to answer! I've just looked at the Esmono web site and there isn't any technical specs on there. However, I know when we lent our demo room out to KRK for a show last year their technical dude checked it out on his little machine and the only points of the room that were not  flat were  the corners and this was easily rectified with the Auralex Versatile foam. The booths are basically made of two steel sheets with the inside one perforated and rockwool in between. Hope this Helps James

    Hi James. Yep, that more or less agrees with my measurements. The trouble is I am actually trying to create a mathematical model of the room. In order to do this I need the absorbtion coefficients of the walls. I have sent an email to Esmono as well, and no reply as of yet. Normally to find such figures you can look in a standard Acoustic Engineers handbook and it has absorbtion coefficients across a number of octave bands for different types of material. As this material is rather odd, the standard figures I am using don't seem to match. Maybe your colleague has access to datasheets for these enclosures. If so could you email me a set / get him to?
