BLUE SNOWBALL USB MIC

The Blue Snowball is designed for mobile laptop use and desktop studios with its universal drivers for Mac and Windows and built-in plug-and-play USB connectivity.

It is an easy-to-use USB condenser microphone that captures unheard-of detail whether you're recording a band in a studio or an acoustic guitar in your living room. The Blue Snowball mic is ideal for podcasting as well. Plug-and-play the Blue Snowball microphone with your PC or Mac with no added software.

The Blue Snowball USB mic's versatility is achieved by its unique dual-capsule design, with one capsule tailored for vocals and the other for instruments. The Blue Snowball mic's 3-polar pattern switch allows you to choose from cardioid, cardioid with -10dB pad, and omnidirectional polar response patterns. The first position activates the cardioid capsule suited for a robust vocal sound. The second position engages a -10dB pad that's great for recording electric guitars. The third position activates both Snowball capsules to create an omnidirectional pattern, best for choirs and other widely dispersed sources. The dual-capsule design allows the Blue Snowball to handle anything you can throw at it, from soft vocals to loud garage bands.

  • ****SPECIAL OFFER On Product Of The Week****

Let’s have a big welcome to Adam James who is doing his very first Product Of The Week! Read on and you’ll see from this superb recommendation why the Trojan Mk11 3U ABS is worthy of being Product Of The Week. This is what he has to say “The Trojan Mk11 3U ABS Cases are even tougher and more robust than their predecessors whilst retaining all the original features which make these cases so popular. The cases are thicker, they sport tension springs which increase drawbolt tension and the aluminium is now plated after it is bent which prevents that irritating aluminium discolouration. I’ve been happily shifting my stuff around in the 3U. I’m not going to find a better quality case anywhere near this price range.” That’s not all, yes you can get a massive 5% off the Trojan Mk11 3U ABS until 17th March.

  • RED100 Vs sE Reflexion an Independent Comparison

We have been asked many times by customers how the RED100 compares to the sE Reflexion filter, we gave one of each to Mark Davies, an independent Producer / Engineer to test and send us back the results, below is his response.

SE Electronics Reflexion Filter vs Studiospares RED 100

So how does the RED 100 compare to the SE Reflexion Filter despite it being less than half the price?

I recently did some tests in my notoriously difficult studio. The same singer, mic, pre-amp and convertors were used to keep everything on a level playing field. After the recording lots of compression was applied, the same amount on all of the files so that the differences is a bit more noticeable.

Setting up: The SE filter features a complex mechanism to attach the filter to the mic stand which took a good 20 minutes to figure out and put in place, having no instructions to hand!. However, the RED100 was on and secure in minutes. Also, whilst the Reflextion filter is a fixed shape, the RED100 is hinged at the middle allowing you to vary the 'size' of the space. This could also prove useful for instrument recording.

The results: There are three audio files (below) which are recordings with no filter, Reflextion Filter and the RED100. The recording with no filter shows up the thin, 'glassy' sound of the room. Interestingly however, both the Reflextion Filter and RED100 sound almost identical.

Conclusion: It is hard to justify spending over twice the money on the Reflexion Filter, even though it is a slightly sturdier construction. The setup time, adjustability and ease of portability of the RED100 make this an easy decision.
